I attended a workshop about the new science core at the district office. The substitute showed students When We Left Earth - The Explorers. They completed a worksheet.

Students completed a phases of the Moon Quiz. They also made two phases graphic organizers (8 sided dicePhases Shutter Book).
Honors Science
Students completed a phases of the Moon Quiz. They also completed a phases activity – Oreo phases of the Moon.

Tuesday, March 21st

Science
Students completed two Moon phases activities. The first was Going Thru a Phase. Students simulated the Earth, Moon, Sun system. They identified Lunar phases based on the position of all three. The second activity was Oreo phases of the Moon. They used Oreo cookies to make each phase of the Moon as it revolves around Earth.
Honors Science
Students continued working on selecting a Mars research topic (worksheet).

Students watched When We Left Earth - Friends and Rivals. This episode covered the Gemini program. Students also completed a worksheet.

Friday, March 17th

The 6th grade went to the Clark Planetarium. Students saw the star show – The Ultimate Universe. They also saw the IMAX show – Journey to Space 3-D. They looked at the new exhibits in the Planetarium. They watched a Science-on-a-Sphere presentation.
